Bad Luck Strikes Bobby Grigas III Again At Mason-Dixon Meltdown
Early Incident Ends Grigas' Shot at Bringing Home the Victory
Bobby Grigas, III’s late-season pattern of open show appearances followed a familiar script during the Mason-Dixon Meltdown at South Boston Speedway (VA) this past weekend.  The young Massachusetts driver was quick in practice and qualifying, just like at the North-South Shootout earlier in the month.  But during the race, he was luckless – ruining any chance of a strong finish.

At the Shootout, a fuel problem kept Grigas back.  This time, it was
getting caught in a multi-car wreck that was not of his own doing.

Grigas, the 2006 True Value Modified Racing Series Rookie of the
Year, time trialed second for the 250-lap Mason-Dixon Meltdown,
but made an early pit stop to adjust the handling of his #09 Triple
G Scaffold Modified.

“The car was a little bit off at the beginning of the race,” said Grigas.
“We made a few adjustments to get it a little bit better, but knew
exactly what to fix at the halfway break.  So all that I was doing was
biding my time to get there.  There was no doubt in my mind that
the car would have been back how it was before and we would be
right there up front.”

The pit stop put Grigas behind a pack of cars that tangled on lap 108.  Once that happened, there was nowhere he could go to avoid the wreck.

“We just had bad luck,” said Grigas.  “I saw it happen.  I thought that everyone would spin down the track.  That’s where they were and nobody was in the upper groove of the track.  So I drove it there and of course, something happened up there.”

Grigas was credited with the 18th position in the Mason-Dixon Meltdown.
