GRIGAS, III RUNS INTO ROADBLOCKS AT MONADNOCK
24-Year-Old Is Quick, But Circumstances Keep Him Out of The Feature
Bobby Grigas, III and the Triple G Scaffold race team brought their A-Game to Monadnock Speedway for the True Value Modified Racing Series event held there on Memorial Day weekend.  However, when it came to luck the cards were stacked against them.

Grigas was second quickest out of the dozens of cars that took part in opening practice, but a series of circumstances kept him from making it into the night’s feature race.

During the driver’s meeting, Grigas did not answer his name during roll call and was penalized by series officials.  Despite being present for the meeting and reciting the bullet points of it back to officials, he was sent to the back of the field for his heat races.

In the heat race, tight racing turned into a contact sport when several drivers beat and banged during the event.  Grigas appeared to be well on his way into a transfer position when contact with made with the #48 car of Ed Dachenhausen.  Both drivers fell to the rear of the field and with only a handful of laps remaining, they were unable to make it into the top six who advanced to the feature.
The consolation race was pretty much the same story for Grigas.  He marched towards the front but made contact with the #2 car of Luke Royea.  Grigas was sent to the rear of the field after a judgment call as to fault was made by the officials.  Once again, he ran out of time and could not capture a transfer spot.

Since Grigas and the #09 team are rookies in 2006, they were not eligible for a provisional starting position.  For the first three events of the year (Monadnock was the third), provisionals are awarded based on the previous season’s standings.
Grigas still was able to look on the bright side of things even after the disappointments of the night.

“I’m very disappointed because we had such a good racecar here,” said Grigas.  “The team worked really hard and I think that we would have finished strong in the 100-lap race.  It wasn’t to be though and there is no use dwelling on that.  We’ll go to Seekonk next week and we should be really good there.  We’ll just move on.”

Grigas was a regular in the Late Model class at Seekonk, and had plenty of success there, prior to moving up into the Modified ranks.  The 100-lap TVMRS race there will take place this Saturday night, June 3rd.
Despite not making the Monadnock event, Grigas is still ranked 16th in the TVMRS point standings.
