When you race at New Hampshire International Speedway, you usually need to have everything working just right in order to earn a top finish. Every aspect of a racecar comes into play when the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour visits their largest track on the schedule. Aerodynamics, power and chassis set-up are all crucial. Usually, if you’re just a little bit off, that makes the difference between a possible top 10-finish and a result deep in the pack.
Bobby Grigas, III didn’t have quite a perfect car under him on Saturday during the New Hampshire 75 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event. But despite a little bit of damage from an early incident, he still was able to come back and finish in the 10th position.
“At the beginning we had a fast car but we got bumped on the wheels and it kind of messed up the front end,” said Grigas. “At the end it got really tight. That was why cars like Andy [Seuss] and [Mike] Stefanik were able to drive away and I could not catch Tony Hirschman. The car would just not give up more. I tried to stay with Tony to draft, but the car just got tighter and tighter and I lost the draft.”
Grigas will now return to action in Sunday’s rain-delayed NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Thompson International Speedway (CT).
