Young Driver Plans to Get NASCAR Modified Tour Season Started as Early as Possible
Caraway is also a rare track that neither Grigas’ crew chief Greg Narducci or team consultant Brad LaFontaine have been to before. Their notebooks are full after years and years of Modified racing, but this ½-mile track is one place neither man has ever seen before.
“No, neither of them have been there before,” said Grigas. “They’ll bring us up to speed quickly. It’s a real confidence booster having them help you out because they make cars go fast anywhere. I think we’ll be good.”
The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event at Caraway Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, March 24th.

“I’ve never seen the track before. I’ve heard it is fast and I like tracks like that. So I don’t know what to think."
Grigas has asked around about Caraway though, but the advice that he gets from his fellow competitors isn’t always something that he can apply to his own racing.
“I talked to Ted [Christopher] about Caraway,” said Grigas. “He’s not a normal driver though, so sometimes it’s hard to get advice from him. The track could not be paved and he’d just say that it was a little bit loose getting into the corners. I’d listen to him, try it and say, ‘Oh my God!”
Before he starts his battle for Rookie of the Year honors on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Bobby Grigas wants to get his season primed anyway that he can. The young Massachusetts driver took to the track for eight nights of racing during Florida Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway last month, but to a race car driver, there’s no such thing as too much racing.
So that is why Grigas’ #09 Triple G Scaffolding team is entering the March 24th NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour season-opener at Caraway Speedway (NC).
“I’m kind of chompin’ at the bit to go racing again,” said Grigas. “It’s been awhile. We had fun at Speedweeks and it was a learning experience. Now, I’m exciting to be running some Whelen Southern races. I’m pumped about going to Caraway.
