SPEEDWEEKS STARTS OUT WITH BAD LUCK FOR #09 TEAM
Grigas Doesn't Give Up, Comes Back to Finish Despite Early Incidents
A combination of new pavement at New Smyrna Speedway and early-season jitters has made the first few nights of Florida Speedweeks a real challenge for Modified teams. An excessive amount of cautions, spins, beating, banging, crashes and general mayhem has left many teams struggling after two nights of racing.
Bobby Grigas, III and his #09 team have had a tough week so far, but they refuse to give up and that fact has shown in their results. Grigas was involved in an early incident during Friday night’s race, but came back to finish the 25-lap feature in the ninth position when all was said and done.
Saturday night brought another incident and another comeback. Grigas overcame adversity this time out to come home 11th in the 25-car field.
The Tour Modifieds are off Sunday night, so teams will have a chance to rebuild and regroup. Grigas is hoping for better luck when Modified racing resumes on Monday evening.
