GRIGAS GETS SPUN OUT LEAD PACK ON TUESDAY AT SPEEDWEEKS
#09 Rebounds to 10th-Place Finish
Bobby Grigas, III started to see his luck turn slightly on Tuesday night at New Smyrna Speedway. After getting caught in spins during the first few nights of Florida Speedweeks, Grigas started up front and led several laps early in his 25-lap feature.
On the ninth lap of the race, Grigas lost the lead to eventually winner John Blewett, III and then a chain of events took place that left Grigas with a finish of 10th.
When Grigas reached turn three after losing the lead, he made contact with second-place finisher Eric Beers, and was involved in a wreck that saw three cars spin.
“The car was just super tight at the beginning of the race and I was just trying to hold (Blewett) off until we got caution after caution to get the tires sized up,” said Grigas.
“I tried to back off the gas to drop in behind him, and Eric Beers stuck his nose in there and spun me out. What can you do? That’s racing, and he’ll get his in the end.”

After Grigas spun, he still worked his way back to a top 10 finish. He attributed that to a great long-run setup, something that could be beneficial with the longer races.
“It seems like in the last five laps the car turns on,” said Grigas. “It’s a rocket ship. It seems like I’m the only one that is passing cars. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
Thursday and Friday evening could play right into Grigas’ hands, as those are the nights of the 50-lap feature race, and the Richie Evans Memorial 100, respectively.
