Bobby Grigas showed no signs of a sophomore slump when he took to the track for his first NASCAR race of the 2008 season.  Grigas followed up a Florida Speedweeks record of finishing every race in the top 10 with a fifth-place result in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event at Caraway Speedway (NC) on Saturday night.
Ever the competitor though, Grigas still wishes that he could have done just a bit better.

“It was good run, but we were kind of struggling on the setup,” said Grigas.  “We changed the whole thing around for time trials. I wish I would have finished better but a top five for really my first time down here is pretty good. I came down here last year but I did not get to practice and did not get a good setup for the track.  So this is really my first time down here.”

Actually, just to hang on to the car near the end of the race was a big thing for Grigas, but a year of experience in NASCAR Modifieds helped him still get a strong finish.

“The last five laps the car was getting very loose.  At the end I thought if I could pull around the #79 car I could get a top-five finish. If this was last year at the beginning I probably would have spun myself out. With the more seat time that I have been getting I have been trying to do better. When you start finishing out front a win should come eventually. The biggest thing is that I have been finishing with all the wheels on the car. I mean that is a win right there. I am just trying and digging away at it.   So hopefully we will get a win this season.”
Grigas returns to action when the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour heads to Southern National Raceway Park in Kenly, North Carolina on Saturday, March 29th.
