Grigas Places Second in Sunoco Mods, Qualifies Well on Tour
Outside Pole at Mansfield, Runner-Up Finish at Thompson Makes a Good Week
Things are looking up for Bobby Grigas after his performances of the past week in racing. After being bit by bad luck for much of the summer, Grigas posted a runner-up finish in the Sunoco Modified division at Thompson International Speedway (CT) on Thursday night.
“We're working our way along,” said Grigas. “A second is a good finish and the team is working hard. Our set-up is pretty close to what it needs to be and we're good enough that a win should be around the corner.”
On Saturday, Grigas towed out to Mansfield Motorsports Park, where he had a real up and down day that included a strong qualifying run and a final finish of 22nd.
“At Mansfield, we crashed in practice, but came back to qualify on the outside pole,” said Grigas. “During the race, we got a lap behind in the pits and could never get that lap back. It just wasn't our day. But everyone tried hard and we kept digging away. We left with the car in one piece, so that wasn't too bad.”
Next, Grigas looks ahead to a trio of races at Thompson. He'll race the Sunoco Modified there on Thursday night and then in the Sunoco Modified and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races there on the weekend of September 6th-7th.
“Hopefully, I can get a win at Thompson in something coming up,” said Grigas. “I've got my fingers crossed.”
