After Bobby Grigas, III's career in the Sunoco Modified ranks got off to a bit of a false start, things turned around quickly with a top five finish at Thompson International Speedway (CT) on Thursday night.
Grigas' Icebreaker weekend debut in the James Paige-owned #09 ended when he got caught in a multi-car wreck that happened in front of him. Then came a rainout, but finally this week he was able to show what he is capable of with the team. That result didn't come without a little bit of hard work though.
“That wasn't bad for only my only time in the car,” said Grigas. “We didn't get to practice today because of a problem, so we used my heat race as a practice. The car was pretty good for the race. It was a little bit too tight because the team is still adjusting to my driving style and what I want in the car, but it wasn't too bad. I got up to fourth and finished fifth. We're happy with a top five finish in our second race and consistent finishes like that is how you win a championship.”
Grigas will return to the #09 Sunoco Modified again this Thursday night at Thompson.
