Bobby Grigas, III Heads to All-Star Open Show
Talented Field Expected for This Weekend's Race
There will be a diverse field of entries for this weekend's 150-lap open Modified race at All-Star Speedway (NH). There will be drivers who run weekly at the track, on the NASCAR Whelen Modified and Southern Modified Tours and in the True Value Modified Racing Series all there to try and top each other.
One of those drivers will be NASCAR WMT regular Bobby Grigas, III - who will be driving the #09 entry of Page Racing. Grigas doesn't have a lot of experience at the tricky quarter-mile oval, but the one time that he did race there, he really made it count.
“I finished sixth in my only race at Star,” said Grigas. “It was a True Value Modified race and I probably should have finished a little bit better. On the last lap, I was running fourth and tried to make a pass for third that didn't work. I went backwards from there.”
Grigas has worked the All-Star race into a gap on the NASCAR Tour schedule, which keeps him on his toes as a driver.
“Racing often keep you going,” said Grigas. “You don't really get rusty, but if you've been out of the car for too long sometimes it will take a few laps to get going again. The more that you race, the fresher you'll be.”
All-Star is one of the shortest tracks where Modifieds are run, but small tracks can make for big challenges.
“Each track is different whether it is Talladega or Riverhead,” said Grigas. “They all have different things you have to do well at. A short track like All-Star can be tricky. You can't just use power down the straightaway, you need to have a car that can turn and you need to drive it hard. You can't go too hard though and eat the right rear tire off. You've got to survive for 150 green flag laps without wearing out your equipment.
“Hopefully, we can go for the win there. It won't be easy, there are some good teams entered, but I think that we can have a nice little finish this weekend.”
The WaterSnoGo 150 at All-Star Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.
