Bobby Grigas III  Heads to Caraway Looking for Victory Lane
Modified Tour Driver Looks to Crash The Party on Southern Tour
Bobby Grigas, III is taking on Caraway Speedway this weekend.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season is still several weeks away from getting its start on April 6th at Thompson International Speedway’s Icebreaker.  But Bobby Grigas III isn’t waiting until next month to go racing.
In fact, Grigas actually got his season kicked off in February during Florida Speedweeks, where he posted several impressive finishes at New Smyrna Speedway on the way to a fourth-place result in the Modified standings of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing.

But while Grigas might have finished second, third and fourth during his Speedweeks starts, he didn’t get a victory during that series.  Now, he’s looking to change that as he heads south for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour season opener on March 22nd at North Carolina’s Caraway Speedway.

“Hopefully, I can bring home a win.  At New Smyrna, I finished in every position by first place.  So I’m chomping at the bit to win again.  It’s been over a year since my last one.”

In fact, although Grigas intends to race full-time on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2008, a great start on the Southern Tour might have him rethink those plans.
“We’re going to take the season slow,” said Grigas.  “We are going to start the season off at Caraway and depending on how things go down there, we’ll see if we continue to race on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour or up North [on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour].”

One thing that Grigas would especially like to do is to race at some point this year on the storied Bowman-Gray Stadium track – either as part of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour or during a weekly show there.

“What I really want to do this year is to race at Bowman Gray.  I’ve heard so many stories about it, and I want to race there.  My whole family wants to race down there and that will be fun.”

The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour season opener will take place on March 22nd at Caraway Speedway.
