A week before the sixth annual North-South Shootout Bobby Grigas III was making laps around the tricky triangle known as the Concord Motorsport Park (NC). It wasn't that Grigas really needs to learn the track it was more that he just loves driving on it. Grigas will strap into not one, but two, Modifieds over the course of the weekend's Shootout. He'll race both his SK Modified and his Tour Modified as well.
“It's definitely an off the wall track,” said Grigas. “If you know how to run it and you're running good it's an awesome, awesome, awesome place to race. Some people find the dogleg a little tricky, but I learned years ago that you just hold the throttle down and go.”
Even with Grigas' love for the track he still has not posted a solid finish in the Shootout. Two years ago he started third only to end up in the back of the pack with a fuel leak. In 2007, he got caught up in a crash. 2008 looks to be a different year as the team is looking to dial in two cars for feature racing.
“We are running the same car that I started third with two years ago,” added Grigas. “We just practiced and practiced the heck out of the car and really got it dialed in before the race. We tried our other car there last year, we got it dialed in during the day and it was totally different at night. So we are going to go with what we know.
