The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour visited the Tennessee high banks on Wednesday night, for the inaugural UNOH Perfect Storm 150. Bobby Grigas, III has been around the half-mile Bristol Motor Speedway when the Modifieds tested there previously, and was excited to make his return.
“There is never a dull moment at Bristol,” said Grigas at the test in June. “It's a hard track to drive. At Bristol, the straightaways are short and you are turning a lot. You really have to drive it hard into the corner and then get right back on the gas.”
With qualifying being rained out earlier in the afternoon, the lineup was set by points, with the Whelen Modified Tour drivers on the inside row and the Whelen Southern Modified drivers on the outside row, putting Grigas 31st on the grid. Fighting hard for all 150-laps around the World’s Fastest Half Mile, Grigas’ #09 came home with a solid 15th-place finish.
The next race for the Triple-G Racing team will be at the Chemung Speedway, in New York, on Saturday, August 29th, competing with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
