Grigas’ Bid Ends Early at Riverhead, Looks Forward to Stafford
Riverhead Raceway Kicked off to Busy Month of August for Triple G Motorsports
Bobby Grigas, III was hoping that the annual NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour stop at the Riverhead Raceway in New York would be the turning point of his 2009 season. A new set up on his #09 Triple G Scaffold Services Chevrolet gave the team high expectations, however an opening lap crash ended their chances of a good showing as they limped away from Riverhead with a 23rd place finish.
“We were in the back of the pack to start the race at Riverhead,” said Grigas. “We didn’t qualify too well and when something happens at Riverhead there is really nowhere to go. We got involved in an opening lap wreck and that was it for us. We did come back out to get points, but we were laps down. It was a shame because all the guys on the crew worked really hard and we didn’t get a chance to show our stuff.”
Grigas and the team won’t keep their heads down as they will be brining the same car they raced at Riverhead to the next race at Stafford. The month of August will be very busy, as the Modified Tour will race five times in a 29-day span, ranging from the inaugural event at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee to the Chemung Speedrome in New York.

“We have been struggling and we are working on keeping the teams morale up,” said Grigas. “There is only so much you can do. Fortunately, we get right after it this weekend at Stafford with the next Tour race. It’s going to be a busy month for us with lots of chances to redeem ourselves from the Riverhead race.”
Grigas will be back with the tour on Friday, August 7th at the Stafford Motor Speedway (CT) for the Town Fair Tire 150. Pit gates open at 10am with qualifying at 6pm and the feature event will roll off at approximately 9pm.
