Bobby Grigas Keeps Busy During Mod Tour Downtime
Bristol Test Goes Well, Seekonk TVMRS Race is Up Next
Despite a one-month break in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule, Bobby Grigas, III and his #09 Triple G Scaffolding team have been keeping busy.
Grigas was one of nearly 20 drivers who tested at Bristol Motor Speedway on Monday to prepare for the August race at that legendary half-mile speedplant.

Although the day got off to a rough start for the #09 team, Grigas emerged from the day impressed with his performance and excited about the chance to come back and race there.

Grigas only turned four laps in the morning session before there was an engine problem in his Modified.  The team then unloaded their back-up car, which they did not plan to do, and went through the car to make sure if was suitable for the high speeds and extreme lateral forces of Bristol.  Grigas did not hit the track again until 1:30pm ET.

“There is never a dull moment at Bristol,” said Grigas.  “We missed out on some practice, but still had enough so that I became comfortable with the track.  It's a hard track to drive.  Loudon [New Hampshire Motor Speedway] is a lot easier to run than

Bristol because it is big, wide and has long straightaways.  At Bristol, the straightaways are short and you are turning a lot.  You really have to drive it hard into the corner and then get right back on the gas.  The race there is going to be interesting and exciting.”

Test sessions aren't the only thing keeping Grigas busy though.  He'll also be returning to his roots by running the True Value Modified Racing Series event at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday night, June 13th.

“I definitely love racing at Seekonk,” said Grigas of the track located near his Massachusetts home.  “I enjoy the track and like racing close to home.  This is also going to be a good chance for our team to advance our learning curve together.  We are all working together for the first time this year and the more that you practice, the better that you'll be.  My crew chief, Kevin Crowley, has a good set-up for Seekonk, so I'm looking forward to the race.”
