Bobby Grigas III Looking to Win $10,000 Prize at Seekonk
Open Mod Show at Seekonk Has Top Drivers Coming in From All Over
Bobby Grigas, III is ready to return to Seekonk Speedway (MA) on July 15th, 2009, to crush the competition on his way to a $10,000 payday in the open Modified event on Wednesday. Grigas’ familiarity with Seekonk has allowed him to be more confident and optimistic about his future there; in his last race there, he walked away with a sixth-place finish and he knows that’s only the beginning.
“We raced there [at Seekonk] a week ago as a trial and error deal because I have a brand new team,” said Grigas. “I’ve had a couple of good finishes in prior races there too, so we know we have something to work off of. A couple of weeks ago, we raced in the True Value [Modified Series] race, which is similar to what I’m racing this coming week, and we ended up finishing sixth. Hopefully we’ve figured out what we’ve messed up and we can have a great car going into this race.
“I always enjoy going there [Seekonk] because that’s where I actually started to race – that’s where I started my racing career pretty much,” reminisced Grigas. “It’s an enjoyable race track and I hope I can do well. It would be awesome to get better than the sixth-place finish from before, but if we can be up front for the last few laps, we can definitely go for the win.”
If Grigas ends up victorious at Seekonk, he’ll walk away with more than pride – he will also have an impressive $10,000 cash prize in his pocket.
“I’d be ecstatic [if I won the money] – that would be awesome,” said Grigas. “It would be great to be able to win a decent amount of money so I could give it back to my parents and the people who have helped me out in racing. Plus, that would pay for that weekend and possibly a couple more of the True Value races or any kind of open show we didn’t work into the budget.”
Grigas will be competing in Open Wheel Wednesday 100-lap Open Modified race on July 15th at Seekonk Speedway.
